Today's Little Painting

Here is today's painting I did this afternoon.  I love the colorful face!  I went a little overboard with the markings on her face though.

More Recycled Dryer Sheet Art!

I spent the last few days creating more mixed media art cloths using the fabric softener sheets that you throw in the dryer.  I recycle them after they've been used.  Awhile back I created a video tutorial on how to create these versatile little masterpieces.  If you would like to view it you can see it here.

Here are the cloths I made recently, the only difference between these and the ones on the tutorial are that I glued and collaged multiple pieces of dryer sheet to make larger works of art.  I plan on making a clutch or bag of some sort with this first one.  This piece was made using 2 rows of 4 dryer sheets each.

This next one was created with one row of 3 dryer sheets

And this one was created using 1 row of 4 dryer sheets

I can't wait to post the finished hand bag, but I'm not much of a seamstress, so it may be awhile!  But my goal is to create a class teaching you how to create larger cloths and assembling them into things like bags, journal covers, wallets etc...

A Mother's Love...

Mother's Love

Here's another one to share with you.  I finished this one this weekend and was a little disappointed with my lettering and spacing, but oh well!  I like it overall!

Wake Your Dreams

Many of us have dreams that we've kept to ourselves, dreams that we thought weren't possible, or dreams that other's wouldn't support.  It's time to wake those dreams from their deep sleep and start to make them a reality.  Believe that you can...and you will!

Here is my latest entitled "Wake Your Dreams"...hope you like!

The Out Cast

Here is a new watercolor I did while watching the news last night.  This was done in my moleskin watercolor art journal, using sparkling H20's and my  Koi Watercolor travel kit.  I also used Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Pens in black and grey, and a white gel pen here and there.

Let me know what you think!  I love to hear your comments, feedback and/or gentle critiques!

A little bit of this and that

I seem to be stuck these days, so to keep the creativity flowing I've been going back to some unfinished journal pages and giving them another go.  Just a lot of playing with my art supplies lately, but haven't really been able to produce anything spectacular in a long while!  Kind of frustrating, but I have to keep reminding myself to just play and let go of expectations and it will come sooner or later!  Most of these are still unfinished, but I wanted to post them anyway...just to show that I haven't gone and disappeared or anything!  We've been very busy with a living room remodel project these past few month...but we are finally done (mostly), so it's back to what I love...Art, ARt, ART!!!

Here's another moleskine watercolor journal page. I love how well the paper takes paint and wet media without buckling. This is now my favorite journal to carry around with me everywhere!

This is a watercolor moleskine journal page that I did using the Twinkling H2O's watercolor paints. I love these paints, they are very vibrant and have a sparkle/shimmer to them that doesn't really show up in the photo.

Strathmore Workshop (link to sign up at bottom)

I'm taking a free workshop from Strathmore, taught by Pam Carriker, one of my favorite artists. It's on using old journal pages and art images to create new journal pages. I'm a little behind, only at week two so far, but the above images are what I have going...I don't know why I never thought of doing this before. I love the idea and will use this technique a lot from now on. Art journaling is my safe haven. It's where I feel the most comfortable putting paint to paper. My goal is to move onto bigger canvas more often. I have done several paintings on canvas, but it's always so intimidating and I have several laying around that I have gotten "stuck" on. That needs to be another goal for me: finish all of the unfinished projects!

You can register for free workshops HERE

Art Journaling an easy way to play with art everyday...

My family and I just returned from a 10 day annual vacation hunting deer in Eastern Washington.  We are basically camping for that entire time and living out of a tent.  No electricity, no running water, no showers!  I wasn't sure I could  haul art supplies along and get anything accomplished...But I wasn't going to go that long without being able to play with my art supplies!  So I packed up one shopping bag with everything under the sun, colored pencils, a few paints, some scrapbooking paper, modge podge, paint brushes, markers, stamps and ink pads and a few art journals I work in.  Here are pictures of various pages that I worked on in various stages of completion.
