Glam Girl: Last Lesson of the Doodles Unleashed Class...

Well, I have to say I'm sad to end this class, but have come away with a new bag of tricks!  In this lesson, it was suggested to use glitter glue (like stickles), but while I was in the dollar store yesterday I was admiring all the metalic and sparkly nail polishes and immediately thought how great they would look in a painting.  I don't wear nail polish, but I bought several colors and used a few in this painting.  I will be using them in my paintings from now on!  They give a great effect!

Hope everyone's week is going smoothly and that you can make time for creativity!

I've Gone Doodle Crazy!

I'm loving Traci Bautista's Doodles Unleashed class over at Strathmore.  I've gone a little doodle crazy...
Here are a few of my doodle pages!

If you haven't all ready, go to Strathmore and check it out.  They are offering 3 free workshops.  Doodles Unleashed is the first one and we are starting week 3 tomorrow!  I'm thinking you can still sign up, but I'm not positive on that.  Anyway,  I'm having a lot of fun can you tell?

Have a Happy and Creative week!!!

Doodles Unleashed: A Free Class with Traci Bautista

If you like to take online workshops and you have the time...this is a great workshop to sign up for and it's absolutely free!
(NOTE:  If you can't see the whole video, double click on it and you can see it full screen.  To exit the full screen video just click your escape button.)

You can go to StrathmoreArtist.Com and scroll down until you see the Strathmore 2012 Online Workshop Series box.  Click on it and you can register for 3 different workshops that Strathmore is putting on for free.  I can't tell you enough how great these workshops are.  Each instructor puts together a series of video lessons, downloadable PDF's and different discussions and forums to share your work, ask questions and meet other students.

Don't be shy!  These workshops are for all levels!

Last night I completed the first weeks lessons.  Here are the results...and for the most part I'm fairly happy with what  came up with, but I think when I have time I'll probably give it another go and try to be a little bit more original.

Step One:  Using found objects for background stencil patterns
Step Two:  Use Acrylic paints to further the development of  shapes
Step Three:  Use pens, india inks and oil pastels to doodle ...
Step Four: Final embellishing with white correction fluid pen!

Free Spirit (Free Workshop) at Hands and Heart!

Here is a page spread I just finished as a result of a free workshop offered by Monica over at Hands and Heart!  I didn't like it at first, but once I added mored detail and finishing touches, I've decided it's acceptable!  Monica paints the most beautiful faces and I haven't quite captured that "finesse" yet, but I'm working at it.  If you haven't checked out Hands and Heart, you should give it a visit.  Monica Zuniga has a fabulous ning site full of inspiration, free workshops and paid classes.  I LOVE HANDS AND HEART!!!

Strathmore Workshop (link to sign up at bottom)

I'm taking a free workshop from Strathmore, taught by Pam Carriker, one of my favorite artists. It's on using old journal pages and art images to create new journal pages. I'm a little behind, only at week two so far, but the above images are what I have going...I don't know why I never thought of doing this before. I love the idea and will use this technique a lot from now on. Art journaling is my safe haven. It's where I feel the most comfortable putting paint to paper. My goal is to move onto bigger canvas more often. I have done several paintings on canvas, but it's always so intimidating and I have several laying around that I have gotten "stuck" on. That needs to be another goal for me: finish all of the unfinished projects!

You can register for free workshops HERE
